Default F1 testing - Thanks 4 your help :-) (56k)

Guy's,

My 1st attempt at taking photo's of Motorsports, and with plenty of advice from this forum i managed to get some photo's i'm fairly pleased with..
It was a bit daunting clicking away next to guy's with 'L' lenses the size of my arm and me with my little 70-300 IS USM...

With a decent lense i think these could have come out much sharper...

Anyway - I'd just like to take this opportunity to say thanks

Ade

For a first attempt these show a good eye for interesting angles angles and you've managed to keep the backgrounds clean. Well done.

Not sure about your pp though as the images look too contrasty and light on my monitor so the highlights have burned out. There is a decent amount of motion blur around the wheels and you might have been able to up the shutter speed a tad to help with sharpness.

You should be well chuffed for a first attempt.

Thanks v much... (and to the others as well).... unfortunatly i had a few problems getting my settings right yesterday for the white cars and i was burning them out... I was afraid of having the shutter too fast to loose the motion bit but also afraid to loose the depth of field....

Any advice? ... All in all i had a great day and learned a lot (i need a new lense lol) and fingers crossed the next one will bring even better pics...

For a first attempt these picture's are good, i have been using your lens for the past 4 months and i have taken some great pictures with it. With practise your pictures will get better. And remember it's not the size of the lens it's how you use it

very nice angles, and nice and sharp too

one thing i miss about having an L series lens is how funny i used to find it standing next to guys with huge lenses when i had just a little camera. (no rude jokes please )

at the brands hatch champcar race i was taking pics with a little sony DSC 2 megapixel standing next to the pros. i got some good pics too, shame i had to press the button 2 secs before the cars came into view!

Exactly I used to have the Canon 75-300mm IS USM lens, reviews said it was pretty average but I liked it. Managed to snap one or two photos I was happy with

As for your shots Ade, they do appear a little blown out on this monitor, how do your shots of the other cars look? How about the darker Williams or Red Bull?

Pretty good, especially for a first effort.
I agree with AzzA that they look a little over exposed. Keep shooting and posting.
