Default POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO DAY PART 9 (MAY 6-7) MY LOCAL ICON

Here we are again.. this time it's as already stated your local icon.. So, wherever you live find that one place that is identified with your hometown... same rules, we seem to have new joiners every week so I'll re-write them.. You have from sun-up Saturday until sun-down on Sunday to take your photos and they should be posted by Monday. two photos is all we ask of you because that's forum limits... have fun and happy posting...

hey, I wonder if Pekka has seen what were up to yet?

I am sure someone has mentioned it to him. I think he is pretty busy right now. It would be cool if he joined the fun though.

He is very busy. With work, completing version 2 of Exhibition Engine (no that is not an invitation to discuss that here!) and keeping the forum up and whatever he is busy with.

Local Icon. Hmm that should be possible to find. I am just hoping there is not too many tourists if I decide to shoot what I have in mind.

Sari, I'm sure you meant May 6-7 on the subject line?

I think it was a James Bond movie set.

Ohh and in fact it was not a bank, that was part of the set.

Okay, well nothing says "Brisbane" like good ol' City Hall with King George watching me!

And anyone whose been to Brisbane would have seen this; in fact, you can normally see it from the plane as you fly in. This one taken Saturday Night.

Four Shots, all f/5.6 for 5 seconds Manual, 33mm equivalent on 17-40f/4L, on Panosaurus, AWB. Stitched in Panorama Factory.

Great shots guys
Here's my first one ... Meaty might well have predicted this shot, heh.

The town I've recently moved to (Kingaroy) is a peanut growing area, and the town is very peanut-centric. I drive past the peanut silos on the way to work every day, and apparently there's a peanut festival in September! These particular peanuts were from "The Peanut Van", a bit of a local icon in itself. These are curry flavoured, hence the slightly more yellow than normal colour, and they're very yummy! In fact I'm eating them right now

I might add another photo tomorrow if I can drag myself out of bed at 5am to get the shot I'm thinking of.

Damn those look good. Very edible.

I had originally posted a picture of a koala as I figured it was a good Aussi icon but then I read the rules again - local - wherever you live find that one place that is identified with your hometown... damn - a whole afternoon at the zoo wasted.

Boy we sure don't build them the way they use to do we? A lot of history, architecture, and interesting statuary in these shots. Would love to know the stories also. From the pictures of your friends we can certainly tell that it was a fun weekend.

HeHe...Mat, I've got a packet-full of Curry flavoured nuts from the Peanut Van sitting right in front of me too We picked up HEAPS of them on our way back from the Bunya Mountains last month. The Ginger and Honey coated ones are also worth a try. That peanut van is a legend.
