Default Promo shots for band

My friend's band [The Scarring Party] asked me to do their press shots which got published in The Onion and The Shephard Express. Any feedback would be great! We went for a creepier feel to match the music, and the lighting in the second photo is intentional I swear
Thanks!
matt

by the way the one looking away from the camera really ruined the shots, but he was being difficult and later regretted it.

I like the second one for good mood and it would have worked very well if the guy was looking at the camera. The strong lighting and colours work well for the feel you were after I reckon. The first pic looks quite flat though, not much appeal there for me.
Roger.

Thank you. With the first one, I admit trying to get the toy camera kind of feel so I kept the contrast very low. Not everyone's cup of tea, but thanks for the kind words.

I like the second one more - warm light, slightly eerie feel to the pose, great! I don't think it matters that one of them is looking away.

Great shots. I like the first one better myself. Have you tried converting this to B&W- might work well here.

It was actually printed in the Onion as black and white and looked pretty good. I, however, shoot only in color when it comes to digital.
