Default Toontown

When my camera gear was stolen, the insurance company asked if I had any shots showing myself using it. Fortunately, I occasionally shoot myself in shiny surfaces and storefront windows...

Do we have a ton of red taxis or what?

Don

P.S. These were shot into a polished stainless steel column about six feet in diameter. I was standing on the corner and must admit to being mesmerized by the cars, vans and double-decker buses turning the corner. Very amusing for this small mind.

Don,
You're much thinner than I pictured you
Very cool shots.
Rob
P.S. How did the insurance company think that you got all of the shots that you posted on this forum and on your website over the past few years? Don't get me started on the insurance industry........bloodsuckers

I know I know
you are dead sorry you were so bad re what you done in that other post
and this is your way of saying sorry don,
well ...........

Yes
it works !
the shots are terrific .
I really like them very much
the content, the colours, the angles

I swear (my brother always says 'don't swear marie' and thats only when I go to say ' I swear.....' not as in a swear word or anything.
soon it 'will' be a swear word if he doesn't stop

I swear I was only thinking of a picture this very way yesterday. I saw a crazy fun mirror in galway a long time ago which distorts ourselves in them and I reckon at this stage of our lives anything which distorts us is better then the reeel thing.
this could be the case here don
but I don't think so.
andy says ' finally we know what you are really like'
we should be so lucky
( am thinking here of that last post )
well I saw you a long long time ago riding in an open top car through a tunnel.
that picture went off into space somewhere.
......did you ever come out of it
and then you were in those village shots on that laneway a while ago.
and I think I saw you on top of a double decker bus

these are excellent shots
full of what the city is, so colourful, and to get yourself included was a great idea
the distortion is wonderful in this case
hope you got yourself together again
you look very real and actually human here

many thanks for showing them.
and don't be sorry you did.
we can be, because nothing is exactly as a picture shows either.
glad you had them for the insurance purposes. everyone of us should do the same before the unthinkable happens

best wishes
marie

ps
lucky you wore that lovely coloured shirt
so we can see you set apart from the traffic
the taxis are funny looking

I really love these shots. Both funny and interesting. What a great idea, and you pulled it off beautifully.

You are as easily amused as me... I am usually like "oooh a reflective surface I should take a photo of myself" Or maybe I just real conceided.

But those photos are cool... I usually just take my photo in those wide angle mirrors for like surveilance in stores.

Thanks, Andy... if you wanted to know what I looked like, you only had to ask... here I am looking cool with ear spritzers seconds before the window-washers' gondola snapped its cables...

Splat!

Thank you, Colin... nothing spectacular but certainly fun. Glad you enjoyed them. (I do love the taxi lumps.)

There's a reason I photograph cylinders.

Yes, I don't need to get started either... three months later and still not a penny. At first they disallowed all the camera gear, saying, "You could use it for your business and businesses aren't covered." I explained that while I COULD use it for my business, I didn't... not even to the extent of offering prints for sale on my website. They have reconsidered and will give me at least something. Someday.

Thanks for your comments, as always. These photos were just meant to be a bit of fun.

.........well, I'm not that sorry. Think of it as a reminder to do your geography homework. Snow in Hong Kong in September Perhaps I have a career as a conman.

Although I was asked for shots of me with The Gear, these aren't the photos I submitted for obvious reasons -- I had others where you could see me with bag and face.

It's my taxi shirt... lets me blend right in.

Thanks a lot... nice to hear a new voice. I wasn't even looking for the shot... it was just yelling, "Take me! Take me!"

Remember the insurance agent... use that as an excuse next time you take your photo. And remember to have all your gear in the photo.

As for spy mirrors, Philip Ganderton took a lovely one that he's shared here before, but I couldn't find it... so I'll lead you to his website if you haven't seen it...

I'm a far way from shots yelling to me. At the moment, I'd be happy for them to tap me on the shoulder and politely say "excuse me.".
Again... love your work.
