Please help! I am going insane with my little old fashioned digital. Every time I recharge the battery and then connect to the computer again, the event dialog doesn't give me any options to launch zoom browser (or anything else either!). if I go into zoom browser and try and download the images from there, it only gives me the options to remote shoot.
there is no problem with the camera being connected to the computer, i get all the usual messages coming up saying Canon Ixus II found but i keep losing any connection at all between the camera and the image software. I've managed to kick start the connection by using someone else's camera and even installing mobile phone download software but once the battery has gone and is recharged, all connections are lost. Help centre at Canon are clueless as to what the problem is. They don't seem to be able to get over the fact that the computer does actually recognise the camera. Sorry this is a bit of an essay, but please someone, give me a clue. I'm not very techy, if you hadn't noticed! I'm tired of being thanks in advance |

What OS is on your computer? Do you have (or have you ever had) a printer or scanner connected, and if so what brand and model? What version of ZoomBrowser do you have installed?

Hi there Johnny E,
I have just downloaded Zoombrowser 5.6.0a from the canon website but it hasn't helped. I'm on windows xp using a dell lap top with a dell printer connected (it has worked in the past when the printer's been rigged up). Although camera is connected and computer recognises this, zoombrowser doesn't have a clue its there. any light you could shed would be gratefully received. |

OK, first, click START, then RUN, type SERVICES.MSC, and click OK.
Check to see that 'Canon Camera Access Library 8', 'SSDP Discovery Service', and 'Windows Image Acquisition' are all set to Started and Automatic. If they're not, right click on the service, select 'Properties' and change the Startup type to Automatic and click START (or RESTART). Check your Windows Task Manager to see if your Dell Printer has a monitor or manager process running in the background. To do this, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, click on the 'Processes' tab, then click on 'Image Name' to alphabetize the list. The processes to look for will probably start with the letters 'DL' and end with either 'MON' or "MGR' ( for example DBLBKMON and DBLBKMGR). Try to end these processes. Sometimes all you have to do is look for a printer/scanner icon on your task bar (next to the system clock), right-click on it and disable or end it. Hopefully one (or a combination) of these will help fix the issue. |

Hi Johnny E,
it was the SSDP discovery service that was set to manual, the other two were fine. I checked everything else, deleted the 2 processes starting DL and, amazingly, it now works. thank you so much, i have been tearing my hair out! |

You're welcome - glad to help! All those years of computer geekdom have paid off (plus a few years of Canon Tech support).
