Hi-
I've had my G2 for about 3 months and use it almost daily. (I LOVE IT!) I have several different flash cards that I rotate and I recharge the battery after each daily use. A couple times lately I've gotten an error - E7 I think, but I didn't write it down. Both times I turned the camera off, then on again and it worked fine. Around the same time the LCD screen started periodically going blank. It comes back on right away, and doesn't seem to affect the use of the camera. It doesn't seem to happen in any particular shooting mode, but both errors occured in the P mode. Lastly, It seems like the past week it's taking ALOT longer in between shots. When I tested it it took between 8-10 seconds before It was ready to take another one. I see no difference between the single or continuous shooting modes, where the continuous mode was faster before. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've checked Cannon's Help pages and didn't see anything pertaining to the cameras functioning or error codes. Thanks in advance! I'm still new to the "digital" world and I've gotten alot of great ideas and advice through this forum in the past that has been very helpful. Happy Thursday To All! :- Robin |

I've just passed my G2 along to a friend, but after taking thousands of pix with it, the only delays I remember having was when the CF/Microdrive was getting full. It's better not to try to squeeze those last few shots on. Either get another card or a bigger card.
You say you keep the battery well charged, but shooting and viewing can be deceptively more than you think. When the battery is getting low and on the brink, problems can occur. The camera doesn't give you much notice before the battery is really finished, so you may have been on the brink when your problems popped up.

Compensating for his small ... sensor
|
Just guessing ... the camera going blank between shots and 'coming to life again' might be the 'automatic power off' function that turns the camera off after some seconds, if you haven't done anything, to conserve battery power.
The lag between two pictures is most likely the time the G2 needs to write the picture to the CF card. This delay is affected by - CF card type (shouldn't have big differences here) - resolution used (normal/fine/superfine...) - file format (RAW takes twice the space of JPEG, so it takes nearly twice as long) Save time between two pics in RAW mode should be between 5.9 to 7.2 seconds, according to DPREVIEW.COM Regards, Andy
