Default Doing a photoshoot

I was taking pics today, and was approached by a lady and gentleman, who asked if I would do a photoshoot of them.

The guy says he is a medium (I would say Extra Large ) and wants to have some pics done for publication. They gave me a story that they will get me publicity etc.

If they were so famous, would they not hire a "professional" - they liked my pics (of previous shoots I carried) , but didn't know anything about me when they approached me.

Am I being over cautious they did seem to be getting a BIT carried away !!!

What do you guys think

Are you sure? Perhaps he likes some work you haven't done yet.

(And get the money up front.)

No, Get the money up front!!!
I expect that this will be PITA.
Warning signs: "Medium" instead of "Extra Large" = unrealistic expectations.
"They gave me a story that they will get me publicity etc.": Doesn't expect to pay. If he agrees to pay, he won't pay on time, won't like his "Extra LARGE" shots, will want a free re-shoot, yadayada...
The guy says he is a medium: If he mean Medium, as in psychic, then he already "sees" the situation I just outlined?
You should "see" it coming, too! Contract. Spell everything out in detail. Money up front before you pick up the cam.

liza took the words out of my mouth... but I'd add different emoticons to illustrate the point. IE:

GET THE MONEY UP FRONT

Wow, I've run into some strange ones over the years. I agree with the postings here... get prepayment for services, and when the prints are ready to be viewed (proofing) get the order, get the money, then deliver the goods. Definately take someone with you during the shoot... say, an assistant? There are a lot of cons out there, and they prey on personality weaknesses and they will take you to the cleaners if they can. Be polite, but firm with your payment and fulfillment policies with them.

use a WIDE lens...

get $$$ up front...

If its a freebie for exposure, dont put more than two hrs... into shooting and PP the images... and anything that needs to be purchased should come from fat boys pocket, not yours!

(before someone jumps on me about "Fatboy" be warned, I consider myself a fat boy, so dont bother or I will hunt you down and sit on you!!!!)
