Oh that lens was good - glad I hired it. If you think gear won't make a difference - well it did for me anyway. Now, how do I convince the wife that £6000 on a camera and lens is a good investment

Nice shots, just wished you got more shots of the front of the cars.

I know you are a big fan of the tilted images, it works well for number 4 but throws me off visual balance in the daylight shots. I would love to see some front and three quarter shots if you have any. I assume it is the 300 2.8 lens on your 20D? Looks like you had a good time. I am in France in a couple of weeks for some race photography, but it is only a couple of days and all daylight too.

Thanks again. Am working through the images. I do have to headon and 3/4 shots. Will post process and get them up soon. I know the slant can be off putting - my bad. Part is for effect (night shot) but also some are to help panning at really awkward angles. The crowd were intense and it was difficult to get a solid footing. Sometime I had to lean at an accute angle to cut out peoples heads, marshalls or posts. Hence the angle on some. Hope it doesn't make you too dizzy though
Can't recommend hiring the 300 f2.8 enough. Although heavy and it draws attention to you in the public enclosures, the pictures speak for themselves. It could not be sharper. Now all I need is a 1DmkII with that lens nad I will be in heaven! |

Fantastic shots in both threads Michael. Espescially like the night time one's, #4 in this thread, not sure of the number in the first thread you put up.
Anyway great pictures Watched the race on TV at the weekend, it would have been great to be there.
