Default Re: LCD shut off

I had this happen to me shortly after I got my s40. There may be a button labeled display on the back of the camera. It is used to turn off the lcd when you don't need it. Like to conserve battery power. I thought I had broken my new camera then discovered that I needed to press the display button. You probably already checked that, but it is worth a shot.
