Default Photography Buddies

Does anyone know of a photography buddy system? A place people can meet up and go taking photographs. I would love to go out taking photographs with someone that love photography too. My partner just stops the car when I ask and waits for me to take the photograph I want. Some times I miss a shot just because I don't want to bother asking to stop the car lol

I am from Saddleworth on the edge of the peak district, I too would enjoy going out with other like minds, Cumbria is not that far away either..
I know what you mean about being out with non photographers, you are just getting into things, and then you start getting vague hurry up signals; when what you really want is to go a little further and see what's around the next bend. and when you want to talk about the things, you have just attempted, a blank look comes over their faces.

Here in San Diego, there's a digital SLR club. While they do a scheduled shoot every month, a lot of people also get together outside of those shoots. If there's something similar to that club where you are, perhaps you could do the same kind of thing...

I'm with you. The advantage of going by my self is that I don't have to ask permission to stop or turn left or anything. However, it is nicer to have company if they have the right mindset. I joined the local photography club. We have field trips once in a while. The last one I went on was with two mature women. I shoot digital and they shoot medium format black and white. I had a great time but I spent a lot of time shooting them because it didn't take me nearly as long to set up.

Here is the gallery from that day.

I dont know, I tend to love going it alone. I just had 12 days off and went shooting on about 5 of em.. Alone with me and the 30d and my thoughts..it was rather pleasent! I did a few of the state parks here in ct. and some other local attractions and had a blast meeting different people, and other photogs..
it was cool.

I have a couple of buddies I shoot sports with. They've been fixtures on the sidelines for several years, so I got to know them in that way. I've also met area photogs on My Space and am planning a couple of short trips in the area with one of them.
