I am just trying to decide betwen another 20D or get a 30D for a second body. But not really sure what extra features do I get with the 30D.
Please some advice Thanks, LuisE.

bigger screen, spot metering, adjustable burst rate, adjustable picture styling(color adjustments) and I believe 35-zone metering. I"m sure there are a few more, but that's off the top of my head.

I am getting into the same dilemma, however I have decided to get the 30D for resale and maintenance value purposes, that is unless I find the right time and price for a 5D. Seems you already have a 20D, so renewing your equipment is never a bad idea. Just my thoughts.

I have a 20D, but if I was going to get another camera it would be the 30D, mainly because of the factors mentioned by kevbailey. However, I am going to keep my old D60 as back up and wait for another generation or two of camera evolution before I jump in again, retire the D60 and make the 20D back up.

I just got my 20D a few weeks back and Love it. I felt that it served me needs more than adequately, so I opted for it instead of the 30D, and I got a great deal on it. I have a handheld spot meter, and don't need the other options at this point and I'm extremely pleased with the camera

I have to take look at CANON Website, but Can I use my 10-22 and Tamron lens with the 30D Body??
My idea is having this second camera as a Backup for Weddings but also I would have it ready with a second lens, just in case. Thanks a lot for your feedback. LuisE

The 20D and 30D do use the same lenses. From my understanding, the digital rebel,xt,10D,20D,& 30D all use the same lenses, either EF, or EF-S lenses. On the big camera's (ie..5D) you can use the EF lenses, but not the EF-S

PLease do not blame for doing this.
Because I wanted to have a BACKUP Camera for my 20D, I decided to buy a 350D REBEL XT ($659 - $100 rebate) and then expend the extra money in my new 70-200L IS 2.8 ($1599 - $50 rebate). My wife who does not know too much about photography adviced me to do that since I can get more having this lens than just having other good camera. PLeae do not be rude with me. Thanks all of you for your comments. LuisE

But I think if I were to have a choice like yours I would have made that decision too. Glass is almost always more important than the body. You are getting one hell of a lens too.

We just (1 week ago) "upgraded" to the 30D as our primary camera and our 20D as our second body.
I'm really not certain that it's all that much of an upgrade as it is "the current model". We'll see over the next few weeks as my wife puts it to the test. I chose the 30D over the M1d2n because "we" are still learning to be in control of the camera, flash and our photo environment for our style and subject matter. I bought from www.bluestripephoto.com for a $200+ savings from other reputable dealers. OOPs...I just finished reading all of the posts...GREAT LENS choice! Wise suggestion by the Misses. If you look at the various signatures on the posts, you'll see that many folks do use the d Rebel XT's and are happy with it. You'll do great!!! Good luck in making your choice

I have noticed my 30D has slightly better focus accuracy than my 20D had. But the 2.5" screen helps and some of the other little features mentioned here.

I don't know anything about prices where you live, but here in Denmark, the prices on 20D and 30D are the same; new as used. At least that is what I find on the major sites here and these are the ones to go for. So if that's the same in Florida - hmmm... 30D??
