Default POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO DAY PART 18 7-8/7-9 --DARKNESS-

Good morning all and happy friday.. the theme this week is darkness. Remember broad interpretations are allowed. so, if it's shooting a lowkey portrait or simply shooting at night, or shooting a composition that can be considered dark all are welcome... For any newcomers photos can be taken from sunup saturday through sundown sunday... Wait, i'm taking that back... just a little bit. Because the theme is darkness lets start it a little early.. so, photos can be taken starting from sundown friday night through sunday night at lets say midnight..Yeah, that should give anybody the extra nighttime hours that they might need... Good luck and happy shooting..

Well I planned to go out last night and do some graveyard horror style shots, but time kept ticking by and it was still light outside and then I started watching TV and then by the time it was really dark I felt tired ... erm ... wasn't that I was scared or anything

I think this could be a good theme as so many takes to be had on it, from the straight night shot to some out of the box interpretations

I also have some ideas for this.. But, ironically enough I am now waiting for the day to be over before I go out... not that that bugs me as it's a hundred degrees outside and not even noon yet... and Dave, I can't wait to see your 'creepy' graveyard photos...

Yuck! I feel for you. we've had a nice cool spell- 82 right now but the last couple nights have been down in the 50s. Today is the first day I've had ac on and that is mainly because of the humidity.

I did go out this am before sunup but struck out. Think it is going to have to be a studio shot of some kind just so I can slap the photo up on the LCD and then adjust focus after each shot.

Ok, first shot for me this weekend. The theme is darkness. Darkness holds fear for many. But fear of what? Well if you are a little King Prawn one fear is of a horrible death at the hands of a psycho chef

Hope it don't give y'all nightmares

No nightmares, just thinking how tasty that little fella would be in a nice Thai dish! So what did he sacrifice his life for, Psycho Chef (other than POTN WWPD?)

Well, I decided to go to a graveyard I've driven by a few times, Riverside Cemetery. A sign says it's "Denver's oldest, active cemetary," so I guess there may be some older *inactive* cemeteries. It was established in 1876 to replace the "dilapidated 1859 Denver City Cemetery." This probably seems downright modern to you folks overseas, but it's the best I could find.

I thought the clouds coorperated nicely:

And I tried a conversion with this one:

And I'm gonna cheat this week and add a third, just for Tommy:

Condyk, I've always thought it but never said it aloud; you'r a sick man.

Kristina, I hardly saw the shuttle! But then I saw it and I like your shot.

eenorton, I like the conversion one a lot. And the composition in that one is good. You really were lucky with the clouds!

Wow, first two really nice Beth. Perfect light by the looks of it, enough to give a spooky feel while still being able to see stuff.

Nouna ... I prefer to consider myself creative rather than sick

It's all down to individual interpretation...

This was taken in Amsterdam a few eeks ago. I was told the XXX on their flags and such indicated the threats to the city; flood, fire and plaque.

On thought the skulls were pretty neat as well.

This is supposedly a really, really old entry.

Yup ... nice door. I like a good door. Amsterdam is a great place from all accounts. Dunno why I've never been. Too close to home maybe. Hey AA, we're suppose to take shots this weekend and post 'em BTW But it is cool. The skulls are good. They real ones?
