70-300 is usm fyi
I spoke with a Canon rep. today on the phone and inquired about problems with the 70-300 IS USM lens focusing correctly when zoomed all the way out and held in the vertical (portrait) orientation (vs. normal landscape orientation). Some of you have posted threads concerning this problem. Just thought I'd pass along some useful info to you. According to the Canon rep., if the seriel number of the lens has a "0" or "1" as its third digit, it is one of the faulty lenses. So if you got out to purchase one of these lenses, be sure to check the seriel number before you buy.
Hope I've been of help to you!
