Default Server getting slower?

Hi,

This server (like all the virtual servers I've rented in last few years) eventually has got slower and slower. This is because the hosting companies sell more and more domains on one physical servers, one of those which photography-on-the.net is also part of. At worst there could be 250 sites using same CPU, same RAM and same disk. In theory on a dozen CPU/RAM heavy sites can make things really bad for all sites on that server.

So the forum get's slower and the galleries get slower.

So I decided to invest a bit to stability.

A couple of days ago I bought a dedicated server with my friend (50/50 share), and the plan is to move all my sites to that one machine ASAP as soon as it's set up. This will increase site speed a lot as It'll be able to use virtually all resources the machine can deliver - the network backbone there is also much more powerful.

The move should be transparent, and while it's going on this forum will perhaps have an automatic redirect page to a certain IP while DNS gets updated.

Cheers,

Pekka
