Default Contract/Model Release ?
Hi

I'm interested in doing urban/hip hop photography - and am fortunate to know a few "underground" artists and promoters who have agreed to allow me to "shoot" them *for free* in order for me to get "photo credit"/experience/exposure ..

I am looking for the right "contract" for our "transaction".

Basically, I get to use the images of them that I took on my website / promotional brochures - in return they get to use the pictures I took of them for anything they wish (be it personal or promotional) as long as I get "credit".

We would need something "official" because I'm going to assume that if they want to use the images I took on an album cover, for example - they would need some sort of 'release' from me.

Well, if you give them the right to use your photos for "anything they wish" they don't have to get your permission to put them on a album cover! You probably want a contract specifying what rights they are getting. For example you probably don't want to give them the right to reproduce the images and sell them as prints. Or to sell them to a publication without your knowledge. You can find several books on art and photo contracts and business practices in most large bookstores.

You need two things:
1. Model Release - allows you to use your images of them.
2. Copyright License - allows them limited permission to use the images you provide to them.
