Default Website help

All, one of my pictures appeared on a website today and I can't view it at work. I wanted to get a good screenshot of the webpage so I can add it to my portfolio.

If someone could do that I would be very appreciative.

No worries Joe. Hope it's OK. I'm out and about on the laptop so it's not a huge screen area, but I think it shows the image clearly.

BTW... Nice job!

Gavin,

No worries. It looks fine. I just wanted something incase they change the website. The image is small - looks like it fills half the area they normall have reserved for an image. I was going to add it to my portfolio .pdf presentation. Now if I could just find the best way to scan my images from the NLP and make it look decent I would be happy.

Thanks for the compliment. I was inspired by you... your pics several days before hand reminded me to get pics of the manager. Didn't think I would need them.

KIPAX,

That would work at home ,but because military computers don't always pll up everything on a website it wouldn't save it for the snapshot. I just needed something incase they take the image down this evening.

But thanks. Looking forward to August 2nd at Crewe.

A reasonable flatbed scanner should do the job. You can scan oversize pages in a couple of goes and re-assemble them in PS, which will also let you tweak them to look peachy (i.e. brighten them up a bit from the usual grey newsprint).

I've got a random selection of tearsheets online that I've originally saved as PDFs:

www.tgsphoto.co.uk/tearsheets

The originals will all print happily to A4 (or above) if need be.

I'll have to find something in Cambridge and see if they can do a good scan job. I am fussy about cutting off parts of the entire sheet, but I guess I will have to get over that. I am already preparing to resubmit a portfolio to Action Images. I sent my application off on Friday, but I am not holding my breath.

For tabloid size newspaper pages, you can simply make two scans on an A4 scanner and put the pieces together in PS to give you the full page without losing the edges. In the long run, it mght be more economical to invest in a flatbed (they're cheap and cheerful nowadays) than having pages scanned at a bureau.

I'm no expert... but if you need any help with finalising your folio for AI, don't hesitate to give me a shout if you'd like some 'independent input'.

Gavin,

Thanks for the offer. Most of what I submitted has been seen before, only a few ancient pieces. I submitted because they had my CV and wanted some images to go with it - so I sent in 11 of what I thought were my strongest images. We'll see what happens. I'll have to invest in a good UK scanner as the US doesn't know what A4 is. HA HA.

I'll see if I can dig up the images I sent them and forward them to you.

Something like this should do the job:

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/5655...can-4200f.html

You can spend a whole lot more, but only really worth it if you want a machine that can scan slides/negs to a higher standard as well.

The first seven here were submitted, plus 2 from the Womens FA Cup. The one you and I had different angles on, and one of the trophy be shared between players and fans, and one from my last Cambridge game.

I'll take a good look at that scanner. Thanks!
