Default Robotic Toy Cat Experimental

Hello folks, I am a proud owner of a canon digital rebel xt, and I am also interested in learning photography and looks like i found the right place .

Here is a photo of one of those robotic cats that sell in toys stores, I had this one laying around for a while, keep in mind that i took this in raw format and also edited in digital photo pro.

Tell me what all of you think about it, and what should i do to fix it.

Welcome and neat picture. The creases in the background are a distraction, they work for the ground though. I wish there was a little more tonal range in this to make it look more metalic. You can do it in photoshop or by creating an HDR image. Since you went with dramatic lighting that would help dramatize it as well.

Cool first post. Possibly bluring the background a bit would make robo-kitty pop a bit more.
Nice job, I look forward to more of your posts...

Welcome to the forum.

You could PS this various differnt ways, but easiest would be to set it up again and reshoot, this time with the cat farther away from the background and with a wider aperture (smaller number - adjust it in "A" mode) to reduce the Depth of Field. This will blur the background out nicely for you. If you want to start slowly, choose the portrait (looks like a little head I believe) mode on your rebel and it will adjust the aperture for you.

PS: pull your focus on kitty's eyes.
