Hello, my first ever catwalk photo attempt was at this event. I have never taken any pictures of this theme before and have over 2000 pictures awaiting editing. Please could I have some feedback, tips and advice before I continue to edit anymore.

I think this and the rest of the pictures that will follow, belong in the glamour section but I was unable to post in that section?

Wow... great job for a first time. What setup/settings did you use?

I had spent the day photographing military aircraft and i didnt have the correct equipment for the shoot. With no flashgun I was using an Canon 1D MkII with a Sigma 50-500 lens. I was stood around 8-15 metres from the women and had to wait for them to stand still in order to take a photo without motion blur.
These pictures are the first lot and I manged to learn and correct myself as the night went on. Hopefully, the rest with start to improve as I think the composition on some of these are not very good. A nice learning curve though.

They look good, but if you hadn't told me the setting I wouldn't have been able to guess it.
Perhaps a little more context could help your photos in these sorts of situations?

I like the fact that you were not scare to boost the ISO to 1600. Something that a lot of Pros are completely against.

Is that a 300mm in your pocket?

Tim9G, do you get any dark edges with the bigma on the 1D (vignetting)
I tryed a 1DmkII and with the bigma got dark edges when shooting into the clear sky aircraft, birds etc |

Correct, I had to go up to 1600 with the lowest AV possible or the pics were just not working. I have had a preview glance at the rest of the images from the event and have found that the best in my opinion are with the black night sky background rather than the blue banner behind the catwalk. I really wanted to get more of the body in the picture, but found that the wider the image, then less focusing and detail was achieved.
On another note, I shoot a huge amount of aircraft, but never find that problem with the edges, unless I over edit a picture and the sky starts to become distressed. The sky in all the original RAW images are fine. Did you mean the original or edited pic? Thanks

Pretty good for no flash, especially since they weren't posing specifically for you. My favourite one is the black and white one.

That looks like a miserable shoot. Glad you were able to tough it out.
