Default Strange issue with 1D MKIIN

Today I experienced something really strange.

I had shot a little over 200 photos and was viewing. While scrolling back the lcd suddenly displayed a big ? and the message "Cannot playback image" And it said that for probably over 100 of the photos.

Then I turned off the camera removed the CF card (Sandisk 4 GB Extreme III) and put it in again and no problems.

Have anybody experience this?

Yep, but not with the 1DMkIIN. It happened to me with my 20D last year. I was using a San Disk 1G Extreme II. I never did get my photos back though. Just the big question mark. Fortunately, there were only about 15 shots on there (I was doing a shoot for a client).

I eventually had to send the disk back to the manufacturer for a new one.

Hmm don't like hearing that. I just transferred all photos and they are all ok.

Maybe you'll have better luck than me. I'd definitely reformat the card and run any diagnostic software you can find on it. Mine was a CF problem, not a camera problem - which is, I think, in the long run less expensive since both Sandisk and Lexar will replace defective cards for free.

Never had it. Since you both mention SanDisk, could it be a compatibility issue withe the card?
