This is a panorama of 20 images taken from the Rickenbacker Causeway. The buildings are on Brickell Avenue. The panorama is a composite of 20 images - all taken on my Canon 350D with a 28-135 IS, tripod mounted. The software used is Autopano Pro. I highly recommend it.
The original photo has great details, but is 4 meg - the original is AVAILABLE HERE All comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for looking. ![]() Last edited by Richard_Miami : 7th of August 2006 (Mon) at 07:23. |

I checked out the original... really nice... there's a few bad spots, but barely noticable with a little cloning. Awesome job! Great color and sharpness. One of these days I'll give pano a try... looks like fun!

Alan... thank you... I took the pic yesterday so I haven't had the time to really perfect it.. and YES.. panos are fun.. with the right software to help with the tedious parts.

Thank you for the compliment!!! It is greatly appreciated. As for the number of images captured - actually, a higher number makes it EASIER - not harder, provided you are using a competent piece of software to help with the stitching and lens distortions. More images of the subject means more overlap. More overlap means it is easier for the software to make "matches" pixel by pixel when it creates the pano. Too few captures means LESS reference points - which means a more "obvious" panorama. Once I figured that logic out, my panos got a LOT better. The only "costs" to this approach is you better have a higher end computer to do the processing, or at least be very patient - this many images takes a lot of processing by the computer. The other cost is size. My true original pano of this image is 40 meg. I reduced it to 4 meg for web posting on my Gallery. I have heard of panos being created up to 9 GIG. You ain't gonna post that sucker on the web! LOL But it does give you a lot of editing room. ![]() Last edited by Richard_Miami : 7th of August 2006 (Mon) at 18:06. |

Very nice Richard - a very familiar sight to me, although we haven't been down to Miami for a while now, we usually go to Ft. Lauderdale to shop these days. The original is nice and sharp!
