Default New to the forum

Hi my name is Sean and i'm new to the forum. I have recently started doing photography, and i have nothing but great things to say about it, and all that it stands for. But anyways here are some night shots i took the other night. I hope you like them. I have a lot to learn, and a long way to go, but as long as i love it, and enjoy it, i will share my work, and i hope you enjoy.

Hi Sean,
I'm new to the forum and photography as well. I've been hitting this site often over the last week or so and the one thing I've noticed that helps me understand photography faster, is analysing the EXIF data (settings in terms of focal length, shutter speed, ISO etc.). By just seeing how the pro's set their cameras up, you can learn a hell of a lot.
I am unfortunately not in the position to give you great advice on the shots you've taken, but keep your eye out for the EXIF data - it helps me. By the way, could you post the EXIF data on these three shots?

EfStop, the EXIF is part of the file. If you save the photos to your harddrive, you should be able to look at the info. The important thing is to, when in PS, not to save for web, but just save as. When you save for web, it strips the files of the EXIF data.

Nice looking photos. As I could see from the EXIF, you probably used a tripod. Exposure time of 10 sec would point to that at least To get even better IQ, use ISO 100 instead of 400 that you used, and set the exposure time even longer.

Continue shooting

Sean and Efstop, welcome to the forum, both of ya's. You'll find a wealth of knowledge here from the members feedback and from their EXIF. I've found the best way to improve is to analyze others images, possibly try to re-create aspects of others work that inspires you, and most important post lots of shots for the good and bad feedback.

Sean, I like these shots, the perspectives of #1 and #3 are great, the distortion lends itself well and the motion gives an eerie feeling to a vibrant downtown. The 2nd shot doesn't do alot for me, maybe there's not enough foreground interest or the lack of a subject at the end of the alley. 2/3 isn't bad for your first image post.
