Hi, I have a G3 and a S400 and I noticed that the S400 gets super hot if I continuelly taking pictures (maybe 50 pictures or so) or just leave the LCD on. Where as my G3 I can take over 200 pictures and I have no problems.
Does any of your S400 acts the same. Thank you |

Try taking the battery out and put it back in, making sure it clicks.... seems stupid, but it happened to my IXUS 400 as well once and putting back the battery carefully into place solved the problem.
Of course it will warm up if you continuously use it for a couple of hours, but I think this is normal..... the smaller and more compact the appliance is, the more it will warm up with prolonged usage, it happens to laptops too. |

With my ixus 300, I once took 100 + photos (with flash) of waterdrops falling into a bowl of water.
The battery was empty within 30 minutes, and the cam was warm in different places (but not burning Batteries warm up when discharging, and the electronics warm up also and this heat needs to be evacuated to the outside to cool the inside (50 Celsius can be very much for electronics, example : a SUN-server shuts normally down automatically when temperature inside reaches 50 Celsius)

Ah, and it will warm up more quickly if you shoot enough videos to fill up a 128mb cards, especially if you delete a few and reshoot them several times... and your battery will discharge quicker too.
