Default Statistics, I Need Stats.

Is it me or is this forum growing by leaps and bounds?

I look at the stats at the bottom from time to time where it reports number of members on line, maximum people on line at one time, and the numbers seem to have grown exponentially.

I don't know if this is good for the forum or not. Does it cost more to run the more people that participate?

Any reason Pekka doesn't accept advertizing? I see it on the sides of other forums and it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I kind of like it. I know I'm probably in the minority as far as that is concerned.

Just some thoughts for a Friday before I leave for a week shooting in Vegas.

This site does have advertising. Only for guests, though. If you're logged in you won't see the ads.

I don't think you should, if you're logged in... The only time I ever see them is when I'm not logged in, but just here in "guest" mode.

I dont see any ads and I sure wouldnt mind them as long as this place can remain in place. I bet all the dedicated people would not mind ads... Or even paying a little money, to make sure this place stays.

You can donate for the cause. Just go into the Support Shop (it's that red link at the top of the page), select any item in there, change the quanity for the item to zero (or heck, go ahead and buy it), and use the "Optional Forum Donation" field to send a few bucks. That will take you to PayPal to fill in the rest.

Senior and Goldmembers don't get ads.

And about growth: POTN growth is gradual and strong, growth means more activity and more activity means bigger database and more traffic. I expand forum hardware gradually (I just got another server which I will use e.g. for attachments when vBulletins technical obstacles in moving them are solved) and this server (database) will get 2 more Gigs of RAM before end of the year. I try to keep the hardware headroom good for high peak times so essentially we are not running close to maximum, ever.
