Here is a document that shows the announcement date of the various DSLR's since Canon started making them. I wasn't able to find a date for when they actually hit the shelves. In some cases it was relatively quick and others it took awhile. One thing to note is that Canon is way ahead of their nearest competitor on getting the product into the retail stores.
![]() This shows the release dates for those dates not included on the above. ![]() Graphics updated: 19October2011

As noted on the chart the source was Canon's camera museum and I tried to incorporate all EOS bodies.
I have gone back over the body dates again and the only difference is that the EOS D6000 and EOS 20Da were marketed in the Japanese markets only. All others were released on the dates provided in North America, Japan and Europe at the same time. That is the only three significant market groups that Canon indicates in their history.

I don't think this was posted, but here's a great beginner's guide on "Enjoying DSLR" on Japan's site. Hope it helps some. And sorry if it's already posted.
http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/enjoydslr/index.html There are different chapters & comparisons to real-life things on shutter, exposure, etc.

Thanks for doing this work.
I hope to see this evolve into something great. I have noticed though many of the links near the bottom do not work... Good Luck with this...

Is there a history on EF(s) lenses? I'm wondering what the first EOS SLR was shipped with?
