I'm frustrated.
First, I'm assuming that I (not Exhibit Engine) must create thumbs and microthumbs. plus other sizes desired. I've done that, and put them in "thumb" and "microthumb" folders. Exhibition Editor seems to work correctly; shows thumbs and microthumbs. But none of the public pages work as I would expect; they don't always show the thumbs. Some Exhibits show microthumbs, others just show place-holding X, one shows some of each. And in one case, the picture title was associated with a different picture. As you can see, I can use help---lots of it! I'd appreciate a 1, 2, 3 list of exactly how to create a new exhibit -- or reference to such a list or tutorial. (I've been through the FAQs and Install instructions and THINK I am not doing anything contrary to them.) Unfortunately, I don't find them specific enough at my knowledge level. (I know some html, but know NO MySQL or PHP.) I still think this will be a great program, once I get it performing as intended. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

Keith,
You've created the thumbs and microthumbs folders. Good. Have you created similar folders for your other sizes? You need to create a separate folder/directory for each size you will be supporting AND set their paths with the "path setup" editor. You will need to have one entry in the "Size Paths" section of this editor for each size you are supporting. It will need to point to the location of the folders/directories mentioned above. IMPORTANT!!! One (and only one) of the paths you set up and use here MUST be labeled as "default" in the Variable column!! Once you have set this up, you have to ftp (or move if you server is on your LAN) the thumbs, microthumbs, and different sized images to each of the specific directories mentioned above. For example, if you are going to have the sizes "small, medium, large", you will need a folder for each one. Then for EACH photo, you will need to ftp the appropriate image to EACH of the 5 folders for thumbs, microthumbs, small, medium and large. Finally, use the "Insert Photos Manually" editor. Follow the instructions there for adding the images to the exhibition manually. Hope this helps at least a little. It would help to know what procedure you have tried already that failed. = Ed = |

(Thanks Ed)
I would suggest trying 1.5 beta 5 if you are new to EE. http://www.photography-on-the.net/ee/beta/ http://www.photography-on-the.net/ee/whatsnew_1_5.html http://www.photography-on-the.net/ee...oad_system.php

Pekka,
"I would suggest trying 1.5 beta 5 if you are new to EE." Because this suggestion is from THE EXPERT I will take your advice. Thanks for the response! Keith * * * * Ed, I have created thumbs and microthumbs and generally haven't worried about the other sixes. I figured I'd get the thumbs working first --- at task at which so far I've failed. Exhibition Editor shows thumbs and microthumbs correctly and the editor works correctly. So does news editor. However, when I go to index.php the thumbs and uthumbs do not show correctly. Some are there; others are just represented by X place holder boxes. My assumption is that since Exhibition Editor appears and works correctly, that the thumb and uthumb files and their paths are set up correctly. Is this a valid assumption? ".....use the "Insert Photos Manually" editor." Where is this? I seem to remember seeing it, but I went to look for it now and can't find it. It's not in Choose "Pick a photo to edit." I may fuss over 1.22 a bit more. However, especially because it is Pekka's recommendation, I think I will try EE 1.5. By the way, my server runs in Safe mode. Will that mess up EE 1.5? Thaks so much for your help, Ed. |

My bad. I thought you were using 1.5. I'm not familiar enough with 1.22 to be qualified to answer (not that I'm all that familiar with 1.5). I will relate that I too first started out with 1.22 and VERY quickly shifted to 1.5. I think you'll like it quite a bit more. = Ed = |
