Default G3- Strange Behavior

I have a G3 that will take picture ok but when I go to the Mode lever to view my images the photos start previewing but very rapidly. If I try to use the Menu button, the date/time menu appears and won't let me set the time or date. I replaced the clock battery and it would allow me to set the date/time but returned to erratic operation again. Is it worth having this camera repaired or is it toast. I just wish someone could chime in with similar symptoms.
