Default S230 Focus Assist

I recently purchased a Canon S230 from Sears. I have noticed that a few photos have a strange blemish in them. It looks like the photo assist lamp is being photographed. Hmmm.

Is this a known problem or do I have a duff camera?

You can check out an example photo (264KB) taken in my hotel room on the day I bought the camera at http://www.geocities.com/rh15230/IMG_0010x.JPG (The blemish is the round mark below the TV and above the dresser handle)
