Default Sluggish photo viewing with Irfanview suddenly

Ok, I used to use Irfanview to browse through my RAW photos and cull any that were of no use and mark the ones that I wanted to post-process - last weekend I had to reformat the whole computer and now that I've reloaded my software on Irfanview is taking a good 10 seconds to open every RAW image. I can't figure this one out - there's hardly anything on the system to slow it down and it used to be pretty much instantanenous.

Any ideas here? I figure this is probably the right forum for this question, unless it fits in post-processing...
