When I use the 500mm to shoot motosports with, I personall use the Manfroto 682B

Here is the link to B&H

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Monopod.htmlI have also removed the sorry excuse for what the thing is a tri-pod leg from the monopod freeing up a pretty good mount of weight. Now it is very light and super sturdy. I also have a Kirkphoto Quick Release plate on top for easy connect and disconnecting of the lens from the monopod. Gitzo has some very nice ones as well, but for the past 2yrs the manfroto has held up very nicely. FYI do not use a swivel or gimbal head on a monopod you will have fun trying to keep it all together.

Nightbound, I like what you're posting, but the Meadowlark is it for me. I've been trying to get a shot like that. As a matter of fact, I plan to visit the only site where I've seen this bird. Beautiful. I have not done much bird photography since LL football season so it will be nice to get out this weekend.

Flores, I use the Feisol 1401 monopod, except mine is the older vs. without anti rotation: http://www.feisol.net/feisol-monopod...i14g514s157nm0

Well, I've been playing with the big boy 500 at LL football games; lot bigger targets than those birds.

Wow, those are some amazing shots in here lately of course! Sevan amazing shots of the kingfisher! I'm very jealous! Never seen one in the wild before, but would love to get some shots sometime! Here's one from myself. Rainbow Parakeet! Beautiful colorful bird!.. and a bonus Siberian Tiger!
