I like the cotton background. You might try a little fill flash for the shadows on her face.

What he said, I'd also either re-compose so the subject (woman) is on the right or crop so there is more of the image on the left (where she is gazing) and definitely there needs to be more light on the face.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate them. I really prefer to shoot in available natural light (which the 5D forces you to do, unless you have your speedlite with you) and I like the composition. I think having the subject view across the frame into empty space is not as powerful and compelling as having them gaze at something the viewer of the photograph cannot see. It forces the viewer to engage more with the photograph (i.e. consider elements outside of the image) and, I think, this makes a more interesting photograph.
