I don't think I've ever seen an alias on a business card. Just at the forums...

I have seen some local photographers want to be called that.

Trying to dodge their real names for legal repercussions. However if the guys last name looks like alphabet soup, and has five syllabels(?) he might be trying to make it easier to pronounce/identify.

mike panic is not my real last name (mike is my first name)

there are a dozen different reasons for me using panic as my last name... one of the main reasons - it is easy to spell, hard to mispell, easy to understand on the phone - think steven or stephen... if your on the phone w/ someone, or having a verbal conversation in person, you should never have to spell out what your business name is... like Mike's Fotos is a horrible idea, because i'd have to tell people that it is photo w/ an F.

ill b honest in saying that the vast majority of people i meet never question it...

I would say that's most likely why.

There's a Simpsons episode where Homer changes his name to "Max Power."

A lot of people go for catchy names - just look at the huge number of authors who write under assumed names... though they may have reasons other than "they sound better" - I can't think of many at the moment though other than a need for anonymity which may not so much apply to photography

"Max Power" was the only one Homer got right.

Perhaps we can sabotage this post and make it into the most ridiculous photographers name...like "Canon Shooter".
