Various performers, C&C requested...

What could I do to improve these images? All are from a local coffee shop that has bands, and a Jam night for bluegrassers.

I have a friend who is going into the studio later this month and wants me to shoot some of them there, any suggestions on the above? Or tips for the studio night?

These are pretty sharp photos, which lens did you choose for these pics?

Leave the heads in the photo, that includes the artist and the guitar head too...

Pictures of guitars, well, we see a lot of them with the artist's face, might as well apply the same theory here too...

As one of our mentor's would say, "avoid the "up the nose shots", you know which one."..

Lastly, my favorite ones of the set are, #5, and # 3, in that order... because of the shadows on the face of # 3.

Wish there was something that could be done about the bokeh in #5...the white trim of the building in the upper right is somewhat distracting...while the dark thing in the upper left is also distracting and could be trimmed out...both sections, offset the framing somewhat...

Of course this is IMHO, let see what others observe...

These were all with the 50mm f/1.8, I meant to choose another for the top photo this one...

When I get home I'll try the crop (I think you're right though...)

Thanks for looking, that venue is quite dim, and I almost always need ISO 1600 and the 50/1.8. I need to dial it down to f/2.8 and see if I'll be able to use my 70-200 f/2.8 when I get it (probably around tax time)

I'll keep trying!

Oh yeah, the 85mm f/1.8 is probably Xmas...

Anyone Else?? Masters of performance, Dwight, etc.?

In the First set what does the second shot look like in B/W? there is something about Black Males playing guitar (Blues'y kinda thing) that i just think if u can capture it makes just an awsome photo,

I agree I'd like to see a nice B/W conversion of the guitar player.
