Default Album Design

My background is in Graphic Design, and a few years ago I started a photography and design business, Ive been doing a lot of weddings and a lot of album design for coffee table style albums for photographers who dont have time or know-how for these types of albums. I attached a few of my pages here for feedback.

I'm also a graphic designer turned photographer, and my mantra is and always has been 'less is more'.

It never fails me.

I'm with Mizuno - simplicity usually means elegance. Go too fancy and they start to look tacky. I like your pages though, especially the left one.

Thanks for the comments - Im surprised at how many "Graphic Designers turned photographers" there are, I found that my skills as a designer crossed over to photography easily and my ability to modify my pics has pushed my images further than a lot of my local competition can. I would love to hear more of your stories and how you all transitioned.

I've always been an avid photographic amateur, whilst running my own design studio. Like you, I have found that my abilities on the digital imaging side have been an incredible advantage over the traditional photographers who really struggle when the data hits the screen. There are some amazing photographers who capture stunning images in-camera, but they have no idea of how to work with the resulting files.

I fell into wedding photography. Did a 2nd shooter gig for my sister-in-law and ended up with some amazing results (to my suprise as well as everyone elses). It's all snowballed from there.

Was the dress in the photos really tinted red?

I really like the first page, but I don't like the bordering on the second page at all.

The same has happened for me,a designer for over 10 years and started in the wedding photography business by shooting for a friend's son's wedding. I thought the results weren't bad for a first and 26 weddings later am learning a very steep curve.
I love it because it is a challenge and you don't have to wait 30 days for your payment, or longer with some clients. As others have stated here I love the first page, your definitely on the right track with that style.... the second one is a little old fashioned I think, reminds me of years ago when shooting with film. Does anybody remember film?
