Default Strobing a gym.

I am thinking about strobing my local HS gym this season for basketball. The only problem is that I have never really spent time with flash photography, I always depend on fast glass.

My neighbor owns a studio, so I might be able to buy some of this equipment for cheap. I just really have no Idea what I will need to get the job done. I wish I had someone to take me to a gym and show how it all works.

Any websites or helpful information to get started?

Anyone attempting to do this:

By leaning on hotshoe mounted flash units as highlighted here:

If the OP is really into "strobing my local HS gym", they will need a grand amount of power, most likely needing huge power packs attached to the rafters or other appropriate architectural features.

Packs and approprate heads such as the Speedotron Blackline 4800CX or 2400CX should be considered.

If they are not actually interested in "strobing my local HS gym", but just want to get some flash images of localized activity at the gym, them small hotshoe type flash units may work nicely.

Enjoy! Lon

I was thinking about setting up two AB800's in the gym with 13' stands. I wouldnt need anything more for power than wall jacks, right?
