My question stems from shooting gymnastics with a 1D2, primarily with a 85/1.8. It seems like my Auto Focus has trouble focusing fast enough for the moving action but without getting into a gymnastics thread, does anyone know if there is a difference in the focusing speed of off-center focusing points. There is one mention in the manual that "if focus can not be achieved with the AF-assist light of a Speedlite select the center AF point. An off-center AF point may not be able to achieve focus." This implies that the center AF point provides some benefit that the off-center points don't. Any ideas?
Thanks, Bill F. |

Apparently the centre has higher precision AF.
But someone else perhaps can get a bit more technical than me |
