Default Another South Florida Autocross

Didn't have the best outing this past sunday, but came away with a few shots i liked. I had a hell of a time with passing clouds and super bright direct sun at times. Then my lens not enjoying having a Polarizer on it and trying to shoot highspeed shutter cornering shots......

I can't wait to get a 70-200L F2.8!

C&C welcomed!

I should probably crop this one... what do you think?

Yes, he's touching the cone

I like the shot of the miata the way it is, no cropping necessary in my opinion. I can't explain why, but it just looks nice to me.

This event was held at Hialeah Park, Hialeah. We also hold events at Homestead Motorspeedway Parking lot. We try to cover all of Dade and Broward Country. How far is Clearwater? You should come down for an event....

Thanx for the comments,

Using my old Sigma 100-300mm F5.6, though alot of these pics need a bit of post processing because for some reason they're coming out with a bit of haze when i shoot them right out of the camera. I've tried tons of different settings and can't figure it out.....

Clearwater is in Pinellas county, about 30 minutes west of Tampa... so it is about a five hour drive to Broward... maybe 3 hours if you drive like in your photos...

My cousin lives in Ft Lauderdale, and i tlod him about it, and he said we could go sometime... maybe you could send me a schedule somtime...

Anyway great pics!!

What focal length do you mostly use? I just got a 70-200, and would love to use it, but would it be long enough for those shots at those places?

Tell him to check out our club site at www.ERSCC.com . We have forums and a schedule of events posted there.

There is a charity event on November 5th and i think a practice event on December 10th.

For you on the West coast you should check out www.GulfCoastAutocrossers.com i'll be heading out there on November 5th to co-drive a friends Elise which i scored in trade for some photo's

At most events i end up using the entire focal length of my lens from 100-300mm. But i think i end up using mostly right around 200.

As much as i want a 70-200L F2.8 i'm worried that it won't be long enough for the type of photography i like to shoot. I really like extreme long shots. I wish there was a 70-300mm L F2.8, but it would probably be even more expensive than 70-200 already is....

I will definately look in to it, and will definately come, i will let you know when.

Btw, since you are looking in to the 70-200, look at the 100-400L also...

It has a slow apeture, but you are outside, usually on bright sunny florida days anyway, AND you will get more reach out of it.

Rent it from rentcameragear.com on your next race.... and see if you like it, it wont be too much money.
Just a thought...
Keep up the good work buddy!

Hmmm that 100-400L looks might nice, but i've had issue's with shooting with a CP filter and being limited by 5.6 even on a bright sunny day.

That RentCameraGear.com place seems great, 38 bucks for a week on that 70-200L i want isn't too bad. Especially when your about to drop $1k on the lens.

I see in your sig you have the 70-200L f2.8 and you seem to REALLY like it hehe. So i can't wait to shoot an event with one.

Thanx for the compliments, hopefully i'll see you on the 5th. If you need directions hit me up, though i don't know the area too well hehe.
