Default Steam Train

Hi all, I don't frequent this part of the forum very often, but my family came to visit earlier this summer, and we went down to Swanage and took the Steam Train to Corfe Castle. I took this shot before we left.

TFL!

Hi Jen;
Could you post the original pic?
For some reason that I can't put my finger on, this B&W image doesn't do it for me!
I sense the original colour version may be better...
"5197" is an import. It's an American S160 Class loco; currently on loan to the Swanage Railway.
Cheers;
Lee

Sure Lee! (and thanks for commenting) I'm not very much into this kind of photography, but I thought it was a neat train. Can't say I had ever ridden a steam train before. It was kind of a tight fit, as I was standing on the very end of the platform and the only lens I could use in that tight of a spot was my kit lens.

Here's the pic in color straight from the camera (just resized)

Hi Jen;
Thanks for putting up the original...
Personally I prefer the colour image in this instance. Although the loco is clearly old the image doesn't portray "age"; and that's why I think the B&W conversion doesn't work here...
With a bit of selective PP playing you could bring out the detail in the front-end; clone out the guy top left, then I think you'd have a good image...
I'm sure it was a fun ride anyway - looks like you had a good (weather) day for it...
Cheers;
Lee
