Not funny… not funny… I just lived through 5 months of ERR-99 hell and it is still too fresh for me. It was truly terrifying. I shiver at the thought….

Ok, after that marathon thread in the EOS sub-forum, all about sueing Canon over Error 99, I think its clear that who writes What the Duck, also reads this forum

Ahh, we have long suspected that the Duck walks amongst us... how could he not; after all POTN's Official Animal is the Duck (the waterborne version)

Interesting to see Nikons have their equivalent. I figured most computers (cam = computer these days) this complicated have their 'catch all' failure condition.

Touch wood, or touch glass, I have never had an Err99 on my cameras ever. Worst I have ever seen is a 3rd-party cheapo zoom lock up my 350D requiring battery removal, and a once-off "CF ERR" on a microdrive that has never given problems ever again. Good 3rd party zooms - no problem.
