f/4 with IS might be better then f/2.8 without, or worse. If you're shooting a very energetic band, the f/2.8 will give you an additional stop in shutterspeed, to help freeze motion. If you are shooting a relatively static band (say a keyboard player) the IS will allow you to use a slower shutterspeed handheld, so you can use more DoF, or get motion in the keyboard players hands without camera shake.

Band called Feen, the reason? Because of its sharpness, and no flash was used

This is my first post on these forums. This is also one of my favorite concert shots. Live music is a focus for me. I only use ambient light, never flash. This was a really hard show to shoot as there were literally only two lights and they were exceedingly harsh. This shot did come out of it however so I am happy. The guitarist is Greg Loiacono from The Mother Hips and this shot was taken 5/1/10. In pp I upped the contrast mightily and that was about it. I really like this one because it reminds me of some of the great shots by Lee Tanner who, coincidentally, is my neighbor. He liked this one too.

![]() Second festival coverage, band called Little Fish Using my 400D lens is the nifty fifty, I would say it is ok for daytime photography, but don't expect great results compared to the 70-200mm MKII

Last on is actually pretty ok.
Maybe crop a bit different. First is a bit boring moment, second is OoF.
