Default 400D - does this camera take ONE specific battery type?

Hi,

i am trying to buy a 2nd battery for my 400d (XTI)

but the retail stores can not seem to tell me what the

"mAh" is.

I currently have a

Canon NB-2LH Li-Ion Battery. 720 mAh.

i am wondering if canon makes the exact same battery with a lower
mAH?

if they dont, i can safely go ahead and buy the below battery.

Canon NB-2LH Li-Ion Battery for Canon Digital Cameras
Canon NB-2LH Li-Ion Battery. Suits Canon S30/S40/S45/S50/S60/S70/S80/350D camera.

Buy your spare batteries from SterlingTEK and you'll be okay.

The battery you linked to will work just fine in your XTi. SterlingTek sell generic batterys (Not OEM) but they are highly rated and a lot cheaper than Canon.

I believe that the mAh is the mili-amp hours rating of the battery. In other words the capacity rating (car batteries are rated in amp-hours).

I bought an Ansmann for my 30D a few days ago - exactly 1/2 the price of the Canon battery and made by a company with a good reputation.

The model number used by both Canon and Ansmann is the same.

Canon did have a lower mah battery, the NB 2L, which was I believe 540 mah, but it was replaced by the NB 2LH. I bought Sterlingtek last year and at that time they were cheaper through Amazon than directly from the company. I think $10 apiece.

Sterlingtek are doing a 1500mah battery for the xti, i think its 15$ +9$ international postage, i think i`m going to try that one it should in theory last twice as long as the canon one.

My Sterlingteks last so long I forget to change them. I have 4. But I've only had to replace the battery in my 20D once during my vacation this summer, 2 weeks of constant shooting. Those batteries are great.
