Hi,
I am looking for a parts diagram for my s30. I tried to repair the broken lens cover, and now I am puzzeled about one single stupid mechanism. I may have lost a piece or I just don't get how to assemble the parts. Are there drawings or at least parts diagrams around? I tried to call canon, but could not get in touch with them. Any help is welcome, Giovanni |

These service manuals exist - but you probably have to know someone who works at the Canon Illinois Factory Service Center AND is willing to risk losing his/her job by divulging company confidential material.

I see, so what about a part list?
Anyway, I generated a wonderful picture to show you my problem. It represents the cover of the camera viewed from the inside: http://www.princeton.edu/~gmastrob/camera_problem.bmp The question is: where and how do I have to set the L-shaped piece? I tried hard but couldn't find out. I'm afraid I'm missing a piece. Could someone help me out, by taking a picture or by sending me my bmp file with a description on how to insert the L-shaped part? I would like to avoid spending $50 or more, if it's just a matter of assembing the camera in the right way. Giovanni |

Contact Canon for the exploded view parts list of the lens cover mechanism (might be front cover, or lens mechanism...)
It will have all the parts (or moduals) and part numbers listed in an exploded view so that you can see what part goes where and be able to order those that need replacing (if any.) It will not explain 'how' to install or any tricks on on how to get the part in/out. That is part of the service manual. That might be able to be purchased from Canon, but go with the parts list first. Try the parts department at your local Canon Office (check your manual) They might be able to fax, email or mail it to you. Good luck. |
