Default Got a bracket for flash, but I have a question?

I am noticing that the bottoms of the shots, if I shot staight on, look a little hot ontop and dark on bottom.

So, what I want to know is, to get rid of that should I bounce my 430 ex off an index card?

I will put up some examples in a sec.....

Yes, I know this is probably a stupid question but this is my first flash bracket.....

Do you have the flash head pointed up at an angle?

How far away from you is your subject? Try backing off and zoom in for the same framing.

The shadows under the girl's ckeeks and eyebrows indicate that you were pretty close. If these are uncropped images from a 50mm lens, then I agree with Headcase. You need to back up and zoom in.

Well, I was going to try do a couple of head shots or portraits and I wanted to see how this bracket and flash set worked up close..... I guess not that great...

Doing a wedding SAt.. and needed to do some experiments... SO I really appreciate the help guys... Thank you soo much.

I was thinking of bouncing off the ceiling in the church...the ceiling have white tiles and ash paneling. And I shot some test shots there at 400 ISO and bounced the flash at 75 degrees at a f stop of 3.5/4.0 at 1/60 of a sec and everthing looked pretty decent.

I will just remember for the close ups to take the camera and flash off the bracket...
