Hi,
I've had my G5 for about a month or so now, and I've noticed a few practical issues. These are mainly around focusing on moving objects, e.g. Horse Racing. Shooting/shutter lag and focusing. I switched off Continous and AF assist, this seemed to help. Any other advice for Horse Jumping shooting? This set me thinking there must be other G5 or other camera 'Tips and Tricks' to pass on to us novices. Many thanks, Mark. |

I'd suggest that you zoom, pre-focus on the jump, then press manual focus to lock in that focal distance. Shutter lag will then be very short.
If there is enough light for a smaller aperture while maintaining sufficient shutter speed, set the camera to Av with an aperture of f4.0-f5.6. Use the custom modes (C1 and C2) to preset zoom, manual focus and distance, mode, etc. so that you can rapidly set up the camera. |
