hELLO ALL.
Just wanted to find out from u guys the battery life of g1. It was said in many forums that it was very long lasting. But i have consistently been able to shoot RAW, iso 50, tv priority, highest compression, about 40-50 pictures! ONLY Is there something i have been using wrong? or is the battery life just this bad? Im thinking of getting 2 spare ones! comments? |

I don't know about others. Here is my experience from the last 3 days. 150 photos, SF-H, a lot of on-off cycles, several (10+) flashes. The battery is still in the camera ready for more. Simalar experience in CRW.
I have another battery and a charger. I like gadgets for my camera and try to buy them all. A third battery has never been considered. My advise would be to buy a second one, as it is needed, and compare its performance. If different, return it. |

I always had a camera that used AA so the minute I bought my G1 I had to have a second battery. The funny thing is that I haven't used the spare one yet. Over the weekend I shot 150 photos (all high res. / half of them long exposure) and downloaded them and I'm still fine. And one more thing. I'm using a microdrive which supposed to consume more power.

It's funny how the newsgroups work: at first they are full of people considering a Microdrive and they always ask if it consumes more power. No one really knows. After this has been going on for a while, people come in and wonder "as there has been reports that microdrive maybe consumes more power: how many pictures more can you take with CF card compared to....", until finally you come to the scene read the recent postings of the conversation and think it must be so that microdrive eats all your power. And no-one actually has ever said that it does make a difference
PS. Same goes for Microdrive reliability: Dpreview made a poll and only 78 people has something against 1GB microdrive. 390 said it was flawless. And how many tens of thousands of Microdrives has IBM sold? Often those who have problems are very eager to white about it. Why would I write that "hi, it's ok, bye"? And in my opinion all storage good/bad questions should be directed to specific camera: as you can read in http://www.robgalbraith.com/reports/...pactflash.html the camera matters a lot. And polarinda: yes, I think your battery is bad - or the in-camera charger. Pekka

on my earlier pist about poor battery, i have done a test to confirm this. Guess what?
i drained and rechared till full the battery and i shot 260+ pics in one night. this was my 3rd recharge since i bought it and i realised that the battery got better as i do more recharge cycles. And i think by leaving the battery out when not using is a good practise to save its life. Im still praying///will let u guys know |
