After last weekend shooting something like 25 bands over three days at the Meredith Festival this weekend will be much quieter. A rehearsal/recording studio has asked me to shoot their Christmas party on Sunday afternoon night. They have a stellar line up of well known (and not so well known) Australian musicians and are going to fill me with food and booze as well as keep me entertained. It should be a lot of fun.

For me, this is the epitome of reaching the apex! :-) I'm always stuck in one venue ... well, almost.

Why, they won't allow cameras in?

You know you'll regret it...After a couple of songs you'll be climbing the walls for a camera...

At my local venue:
I'm hoping for this Saturday's "show sheet," to OK cameras for Sha Na Na...This is a Christmas show and it will be full of Oldies but goodies...So I won't know till Saturday morn...

well i did check the FAQ @ the venue, and they said it was generally prohibited, but to check on the day of the show.

Can I bring a camera or audio/video recording equipment?
Most performers do not allow duplication of their performances, so cameras and audio and video recording devices are strictly prohibited. For information regarding a specific event, call the box office at (617) 747-2261 on the day of the show.

i have no idea where our seats are (a friend organized this), but i probably wouldn't have a long enough lens anyway (my 70-200 is the f/4 version, so my longest fast lens is the 85).

Well than, might as well just kick back and relax...
My show is general admission...who knows what seat I'll end up in too, Narlus...

I'm shooting Etta James at a private VIP party at the casino tomorrow night.

Just heard that I am getting a whole page of my Toys for Tots concert images in the local newspaper tomorrow. I have been working on images for casino, newspapers, artists and music labels so I haven't gotten them to my website yet. BTW, I provided the images as a courtesy to the paper.

Good idea Taygull...It might not be too late for Dwight to ask them for a small box ad, in return for the donation...

At least for now, chances are pretty good that his logo and Trade Information will be included with the featured photos...

Why not a feature interview with Dwight for his efforts?

What if he doesn't want any additional tasks for now? Maybe he'll need some perspective leads at a later time...

Later,

John

I picked up my old Novatron 550 kit tonight. I just have to get the camera to fire the strobes as slaves or get something to connect a sync cable to. So, I have two bands, the model shoot and a promo band shoot to do between now and Monday night.

A tribute band "Live Wire" playing AC/DC hits, is in town tonight...I'm uncertain that I want to shoot two shows in one weekend again...I didn't get a ticket yet for Live Wire...the price went up to $15 bucks...

I already bought a ticket back in June, for the Christmas show by Sha Na Na for tomorrow...

Anybody know about Live Wire? and AC/DC?

John

Well, I was paid pretty well by the venue to shoot in the first place. And now the paper is going to run an article on me near the end of the month.

Yes but come on, you need to do like the lawyers do and get paid for creating the same document every time someone else uses it.

Make sure you post a link to the article! That is a pretty good deal.
