I have finally gotten my new tripod. Finally. I got the Manfrotto 3021PRO tripod and the Manfrotto 3047 head. Its awesome. My first professional grade tripod. Makes my Promaster 6100 (while nice) seem flimsy.

Encouraged by all the positive remarks about the quality of these particular tripods, I 'took the plunge' today and ordered mine.
Since I prefer my gear to be sturdy but also compact and light (so as to have it actually WITH me when I need it), I ordered the Manfrotto 190 BWB Tracker (2,2 kg) and the Manfrotto 460MG or Bogen 3437 head (0,4 kg). That's a 100 Euro/kilogram tripod. How am I going to motivate this purchase to my lovely but very bright wife, let me see.... Let's try a comparison: An absolutely decent, safe and functional 1,500 kg car will cost about 30,000 Euro, that's 20 Euro/kilogram. What (Italian make of) car will cost about 100 Euro/kilogram? And does anybody NEED one? ....... Oh dear, I'll have come up with something else.... quickly!
