Default Canon users only?

Hi I just registered and I've read some of the rule threads but I'm still not sure if I can post/participate here.

Are these forums just for Canon owners? I don't own a Canon

Chris..
Welcome to POTN. We don't really have a Conon-only requirement here. If you're a digital photographer (or film, for that matter) there's a lot of useful information for you, regardless of the name on your camera. Be prepared for some good-natured ribbing, but we're all friends here.

In fact, there are really only a few forums that might not be interesting to you at all, and those are the hardware-specific boards. Everything else is pretty general as it relates to photography.

Who knows? We might even convert you, although that is not our goal.

Glad to have you on board.

Thanks, I have already learned quite a bit (I'm a newb) and I can't wait to get home to try a few things.

I don't have stong feelings about camera brands one way or another, so I'd be an easy guy to convert except I just bought a new camera last week that I won't be replacing anytime soon It is my first SLR and man oh man what a difference it makes.

Cheers!

Chris

Congratulations on the new SLR and enjoy it. I would highly recommend Bryan Pederson's book 'Understanding Exposure'. You will find it invaluable as you start out.

Just don't turn your back on any of us ....I'm kidding of course. Welcome there is a ton of stuff here that applys to whatever model you happen to be using and probably one of the greatest collections of talent I have ever had the pleasure to run across.

Thanks guys. I've been snapping photos and home movies for years but primarily making videos and slide shows with them. I've never taken photography seriously until the last couple of weeks. I've taken some amazing shots with my new camera and I'm having a blast using Photo Paint.

And I just put 'Understanding Exposure' in my cart at Amazon. I need to familiarize myself with the posting pics guidelines here and then hope to post a few. Life is good!

Photo Paint? You *must* use Photoshop here!

Just kidding!

Welcome to POTN, and - as you can see - expect some friendly teasing.

As long as you don't actually USE a Nikon (like I sometimes do ) you'll be OK - As everyone else has said, don't worry, this is a friendly place and I'm sure you can contribute to most sections. (You don't have a Nikon do you? )
