Sensitive + Shopoholic = chick?

I've been looking on other forums to see what the G7 is capable of. Unfortunately, most if not all of the picture I have seen people take with the G7 are garbage, and absolutely no better than my old Sony DSCW1. The images look grainy, people complain its a slow camera, and the colors look dull. Therefore I'm here to see what you guys have got. I know out of any place on the web, this is the place to find the cream of the crop. With all the great talk about how amazing of a camera the G7 is, I'm yet to be amazed. So I'm trying to see some pictures to win me over. Let's see what ya got!

You've seen people complaining about it being slow? I haven't seen a single person complain about the speed yet. In fact, I've only seen people praise the G7s increased speed.
As for image quality, there aren't as many G7 owners over here yet as there are on dpreview. For now, I suggest also posting the same thing over there and you'll get a bigger sample of pics. You might also search over there. In time there'll be lots of great shots here too, just not yet really cause not enough people here have it yet. I don't know where you've been looking at samples so far that you've come to the conclusion the image quality is garbage. I've seen some really great stuff posted. And Luminous-Landscape described the print quality as being in the same league as the Leica M8. Each to his own though. |

I don't know if I'd say it's really fast, but it's faster than any previous G cam, and I would guess that it's at least as fast or faster than anything else in it's class.

The G7 is the fastest camera I ever held in my hands...if you use a good SD card in. Those low priced max 133xto150x cards with max transfer rate of up to 10MB per second, are not worth anything. They usually operate at only 30-40x and 2-3MB/sec transfer rates. You need a card that you can count on as having a minmum transfer rate of 9MB, then you'll see the advertised speed of the camera. The SanDisk Ultra II and Extreme III both work fine, the III is better of course.
Quality looks good to me so far...just 2 weeks with my G7. This image is just a straight auto shot. Only adjustment was to crop it before uploading. http://www.indianbeach.org/images/echo-head.jpg |

Thank you very very much. . .
You really made my day. . . YOu don't know how happy I feel coz you are the 1st who compliments my photo. The reason. I did post some photo weeks ago, it didn't turn out good(which I felt the opposite). And what I got is lots of C&C. (not a really nice one). I feel hesitate to post any of my photo since then. . . after couple of days, I don't feel scared and got a sickness called thick skin. And keep posting.. ..lol.. Sorry to get so emotional. . . I'm really in a joy. PS: Any C&C are welcome. Last edited by Azzure_7 : 10th of January 2007 (Wed) at 03:46. |

Here's the very first shot of downtown Montreal. Not the best yet. I wanted to try it out at lunch time.
