Why buying from abroad is not always better

I've just noticed this on ebay.
I know a lot of people in The UK buy more expensive lenses from "digitalRev" who ship from Hong kong.

I've just been looking at their prices and noted this:

EF 70-200mm L IS Lens Â£1089.99

This can be bought in The UK for Â£999.95 inc VAT
