I need an every day lens that will give me the best possible images for my 10D. I want to get the best opics I can for under $400.00.
The lenses I have now are 24 f/2.8, 50 f/1.4, 70-200 f/4.0 L So the zoom range needs to cover 28-70. Hope to hear from those of you that use these zooms with digital. What I am replacing is my 28- 90 f/4.5 kit lens that is not cutting it with my 10D. |

I would cast my vote for the 28-135 IS, but that is a little over your target price. It is a fine piece of glass. My only comment about being an everyday lens is that, with the crop factor, it is not wide enough at 28mm.

I am using a canon 24-85mm USM f3.5-f4.5 covers your range. Cost $350.. I think you can beat that price as I got it locally. I love it!

Well the three I was thinking about were the; 24-85 f/3.5-4.5, 28-105 f/3.5 and the 28-135 IS. But the range doesnt matter as much as the optics. I want the sharpest image I can get from the three. I have a prime at the low end and the 70-200 f/4.0 L at the upper end but am finding that at times changing lenses on the fly is not an option.

28-105 f/3.5-4.5. Decent and cheap at $225 US + shipping.
(I believe that someone has one for sale in the marketplace forum, with hood). I use the 50 quite a bit as well - more that I thought I would. Edit: I'd probably vote for the 28-135 IS as well, but I don't have one and it isn't worth it for me to change since I'm pretty satisfied with what I have in that range.

I need a lot of range in focal length, so I use my Canon 28-200mm most of the time.
